The clock is ticking and the big day has finally arrived for the 2015 Veteran World Wrestling Championships in Athens, Greece. More than 700 men and women wrestlers from 46 counties will be competing tomorrow and throughout the entire week (October 13th-18th) at Taek Kwon Do Indoor Hall daily from 10 am. Theopeningceremonyisscheduledfortomorrowat 6:30pm (free audience entrance).

Olympic medalists, world and national champions are already in Athens. Georgian Olympic bronze medalist (Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000) Eldar Kurtanidze who also, has five world championships medals (2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze) and ten European Championships ones (5-3-2) is happy to be here. “I am honored and happy to be in Greece for such an event. During my stay so far, I came to realize that Greeks are very polite and I believe that we are going to have a great atmosphere on and off the mat. I think the competition is at its highest level. I am looking forward to it”.

Mr. Kurtanidze is also the President of Georgian Wrestling Federation, head of Physical Training of the Georgian Police Academy and a political activist in his country.
There will be freestyle wrestling, in B(41-45), Ε (56-60) and F (61-65) categories for tomorrow’s schedule. The awards ceremonies have been scheduled every night after 8pm and the medals for Athens 2015 Veteran World Wrestling Championships are truly unique, with the emblems of UWW (United World Wrestling) and Hellenic Federation Wrestling on one side and the Parthenon of the other.
